MassHire Department of Career Services – Department that helps provide job seekers and referrals for jobs and training.
MassHire Job Quest – State database with job postings to assist with looking for a job.
Below is a list of commercial and government websites to help job seekers view postings for job positions.
Indeed – Search engine for jobs posted online. Search by keyword, date or location. Users who create accounts can use a resume builder and use it to apply for jobs.
Monster Jobs – Another search engine with job seekers, but it also contains information about prospective employers. Job seekers can also post resumes.
Glassdoor – Search engine with job classified online that includes company reviews, salary information, and job seeking advice.
Working for the Commonwealth – Job postings for positions within the Massachusetts state government. Includes links for state jobs, civil service positions, the court system, internships, technology, and public education jobs.
School Spring – Top job seeking website for prospective candidates looking to work as a teacher or within the public education industry.
Snag A Job – Job search engine for local part time jobs.
Gale Presents: Petersons Career Prep – Database designed as a starting point for anyone looking for a job with guided resume/cover letter tutorials and career assessments.
Gale Business: Entrepreneurship – Database for anyone looking to start their own business. Learn how to plan, manage, and fund your business with real examples of business plans.
Occupational Outlook Handbook – Find out career information on duties, education, training, salary, and outlook on hundreds of occupations. 2018-19 print edition is also available at the Reference desk.
The Riley Guide – Links to 50 different pages with job seeker resources, including applying for jobs in different fields, advice, and looking for jobs internationally.
Digital Learn – Need a refresher on using a computer or other forms of technology? This website supported by the Public Library Association has videos and worksheets to help you gain confidence using computers, in both English and Spanish.
Digital Learn: Online Job Searching – Includes tutorials on using Indeed.com, Monster.com, online classifieds, researching company websites, and how to avoid scams.
Lynda – Learn more about business, software, technology and creative skills taught by industry experts. A Boston Public Library card or e-card is required to access this resource (Click here to register for one).
BPL’s Kirstein Business Library & Innovation Center (KBLIC) – Offers free, online events and discussion groups.
Free Microsoft Office Tutorials (GCF Global) – Free video/screenshot tutorials on using different versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Typing Club – Tremendous resource for building keyboarding and typing skills. Free resource requires a username/password to start and save progress.
